Nollaig Hunter had a a good return to form at last night’s Churchtown South 5 miler, the third race in the Ballycotton Summer Series. Nollaig won a closely-contested women’s race in 32:07. Niamh Walsh made it two Leevale athletes in the top 3 with a 3rd place finish in 32:30.
In the men’s section, Tim Twomey was the first Leevale finisher in 6th with a time of 26:28. This was enough to maintain top position in the overall series, but, with Seán McGrath finishing 3rd last night, Tim now has only a narrow lead over the East Cork man going into the last race at Ballycotton next month. The rest of the Leevale team packed well, with Cillian Ó Tuama and Donal Coffey 8th and 9th, John O’Connell and Colm Moore in 12th and 13th. John Collins won the M50 category and finished 21st overall.
