A very enjoyable Juvenile Christmas Party was held at the clubhouse this afternoon. From early in the afternoon, the resident DJ was pumping out the tunes from the Paul Street venue. Guests of honour on the day were European Cross Country gold medalist, Lizzie Lee and, of course, Santa! Santa arrived slightly later than expected, held up by the traffic coming in the Western Road from the North Pole. However, when he did arrive he was in great spirits and showed some great moves on the dance floor. All the training during the year was obviously worth it.
Lizzie gave a short talk about her part in the Irish team victory last weekend and gave some good advice to the young athletes on the importance of staying involved in athletics. Her gold medal, which she had with her on the day, will surely be an inspiration for all Leevale athletes in years to come.
Presentations were also made to the most consistent and improved athletes during the year. All the kids got selection boxes and a quick chat and their photos taken with Santa. Click on the link below for photos of the kids with Santa. Some slighly older kids got a look in too!
