Leevale\North Mon PPU 5K Results

The second running of the the North Mon Past Pupils’ Union 5K was held this evening in ideal conditions in Hollyhill this evening. The race was took place over a different course to last year’s event and was once again held in conjunction with Leevale AC. Coming just 24 hours after the John Buckley BHAA race, it attracted a modest field of 70 runners.

For the second evening in succession Leevale athletes were well to the fore. Chris Harrington was using the race as a warm down from his 4th place finish on Tuesday night and had a comfortable win in 15:54. This was an impressive time on what was a testing course. There was a great battle for second place. Karl Walsh, son of the great Donie, held second for most of the race but was tracked closely all the way by Tim Twomey, who eventually prevailed by just a second in a tight finish. In third place was Eric Curran of Leevale, just ahead of John O’Connell. First lady home was Janet Forrest of Carraig na bhFear AC.
