Woodie’s DIY Juvenile Indoor Track and Field Championships

Day 1 Saturday 24th March

Sprints and triple jumps were the order of the day for Leevale athletes on Day 1 of the Woodie’s DIY Juvenile Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Colin Doyle, competing in his first national championships, got through to the final of the boys U12 60m. This was a great achievement for Colin.

Robert Cregan had a very strong run in the boys U13 60m to take gold. This was followed by an impressive win by Luke Ring in the BU15 60m in an excellent time 7.53 seconds. Sean O’Callaghan was also a finalist in this event and Marie O’Halloran was a finalist in the GU16 60m.

In the field events Jessica Sheehan finished second in the GU19 triple jump and Ryan Casey finished third in the BU19 triple jump.

Day 2 Sunday 25th March

Hurdles and high jump were the events of the day for Leevale athletes on day 2. Hannah Murphy comfortably qualified for the final of the GU13 60m hurdles. In the final she ran an excellent race to finish 6th. Her brother Jack finished second in the final of the BU15 60m Hurdles. Jack later went one better to take gold in the high jump with an excellent jump of 1.75m. In the same event Sean O’Callaghan finished just outside the medals.

Unfortunately Marie O’Halloran broke in the final of the GU16 60m hurdles
