The AAI Games were held in Santry today and were a practice run for the European Team Championships which will be held at the same venue in two weeks time.
There were some great performances from the Leevale athletes who travelled to the event. David Quilligan had a good win in the long jump, with a clearance of 7.20 in the third round. James Grufferty had an excellent run in the 5K, his 2nd to Mark Kenneally in 14:51 a big PB for him. Claire McSweeney also finshed 2nd in the 1500m while young Conor Walter was another to impress, 5th in 1:56 in heat 2 of the 800m. In the sprints, David Killeen took 3rd in heat 2 of the 100, David Quilligan 4th in heat 1, while Thomas O’Sullivan with 5th in heat 2 of the 400m. The Leevale men’s team had a good 2nd behind the national squad in the 4×100. Back in the field events, Dennis Finnegan took 4th in the triple jump.
