It was a good night for the Leevale men at tonight’s Carrigtwohill 5K, which was held over a tough course in summer-like conditions.
The race was won by Mark Hanrahan in 14:57, which was a good time over the hilly circuit. Thomas Maunsell was third in 16:30 and Cillian Ó Tuama 5th in 16:38. Juvenile coach Ken Nason used the race as a tempo run and ended up 8th overall, taking the win in the M40 category. Ken has an illustrious career behind him, including a sub-4 minute mile, but this was his first road race in Ireland so his new career is off to a good start!
Just behind Ken in an identical time was Shane Dineen whoe took the juvenile prize, while John Collins once again won the M55 category. The evergreen John O’Leary took the honours in the M70.
