Leevale race walker Luke Hickey achieved two European standards in the 10K walk today, as well as smashing his own PB. Competing in the Naumburg international meet in Germany, Luke won his age category in 43:52, a huge improvement over his previous best of 46:31. His new PB is well inside the qualification marks for both the European Cup of Racewalking, to be held in Slovakia in three weeks’ time, and the European Junior T&F Championships in Italy in July.
Luke is a member of the Cork-based Robert Heffernan race walk squad. The benefits of being part of a high performance squad are paying dividends for Luke.
