The Munster Masters Cross Country Championships were held in Beaufort, Co. Kerry today in conjunction with the Juvenile ‘B’. The fast and largely dry course, as well as the ideal weather conditions made for an enjoyable day for athletes and supporters alike.
The Leevale ladies were impressive in winning their F35 category. Carmel Parnell, who seems to improve with age, led them home, 3rd athlete across the line and first in her own F55 category. Rosaleen McKeown also had a good run to finish 2nd in the F35 category.
With some consistent training behind him, Martin McCarthy is improving with each passing week. His good form continued today as he was just pipped for overall victory by James Liddane of Clare. Martin took victory in the M40 section. The Leevale M35 team finished 2nd to St. Finbarr’s as Colm Moore (8th), Donal Coffey (12th) and Cillian Ó Tuama (13th) completed the scoring 4.
