A number of road races took place this week. Last night, James Grufferty had a straightforward win in the Shanagarry 5K in 16:07. Darragh Canavan, recovered from his half-marathon on Monday, finished 3rd. Helen Leonard, who was also in action in Dublin on Monday, finished 2nd overall in the ladies’ race.
On Wednesday, John Collins had a good run at the CLoyne 5K, winning the M55 in 17:56. Brian Hegarty was the first Leevale finisher in 16:55.
Last Sunday, Tim Twomey had a facile win in the Kilbrittain 5K fun run in 16:07.
The fastest 5K of the week belonged to Chris Mintern, who clocked 15:52 on the road after a 750m swim and 20K bike. This was a great performance from Chris who had 9 minutes to spare in winning the Cobh triathlon last Sunday.
