Leevale men’s team were absolutely brilliant in securing victory in the National League Final premier men’s contest. There were fine performances produced by Luke Hickey, Mark Hanrahan, Sam Healy, David Quilligan, Ben Thistlewood, James Heffernan and David Tierney to secure victory with a score of 116 points. The score placed them seven points ahead of St. Abban’s AC who were second on 109 points with Clonliffe Harriers in third on 105 points.
Pat Moore, who was also a member of the last Leevale teams to win the Leagues 40 years ago, accepted the cup on behalf of the club.
This was a wonderful team performance and is testament to all the athletes who competed for the club throughout the leagues. This squad have now qualified to represent Ireland at the European Club Competition next year.
Leevale women also competed on the day finished just outside the medals in 4th place. Notable performances in the women’s team were Louise Shanahan, Jessica Neville, Lauren Whelan and Una Samuels who achieved maximum points in the pole vault.
