It has been a great weekend for Leevale athletes are the AAI Senior Indoor Championships with two national titles, plus two silver and four bronze medal finishes.
DAY 2
Alex Littlewood won the men’s 3000m title for Leevale in a spectacular time of 8:02.13. Ben Thistlewood finished 7th in 8:23.35 and James Grufferty was 9th in 8:27.34.
There was another podium finish for Leevale as Claire McSweeney takes bronze in the women’s 1500m
David Quilligan ran a very strong race to take the bronze in the men’s 200m final in 21.94.
In the long jump Benjamin Guillou finished second with 7.25m, while David Quilligan collected his second bronze of the day with 6.95m jump. Club-mate Sam Healy finished just outside the medals with a 6.90m jump.
DAY 1
Alex Wright won the 5K walk from Luke Hickey, his training partner. Luke crossed the line in a new PB of 19:56.78
The women’s 3k was won by Lauren Whelan (Leevale AC) in 14:22.96, which is her third personal best in the last two months.
Qualifiers:
David Quilligan qualified for the men’s 200m final in a time of 21.90
Edmond O’Halloran and Benjamin Guillon have both qualified from the 60m heats for the finals on Sunday.
Jessica Neville has qualified for the women’s 400m finals in a time of 58.71
Thomas O’Sullivan qualified for the men’s 400m final in a time of 50.45
Andrea Bickerdike for the women’s 800m final in a time of 2:22.91
Shona Lowe, women’s 200m in time of 26.28 and the 60m final.
