On the May bank holiday Monday a small band of Leevale Junior & U23 athletes travelled to Waterford for the Munster Junior & U23 Championships. Conditions were not ideal but the performances were still good.
Louise Shanahan won a tough 400m from Jenna Bromell of Emerald AC in a new championship best performance 56.24. Louise took the record from her club-mate Louise McArdle.
Conor Walter won the junior men 800m with an impressive 1:55.63. Matthew Murnane finished fourth in 2:05.42.
Luke Horgan led from the front to take the junior men 1500m title. Conor Walter took bronze with Shane Dineen in 4th.
Sam Healy did the double winning the junior men’s 110m hurdles and long jump.
In the U23 women Shona Lowe took both the 100m & 200m titles.
Kaodi Ogbene took bronze in the men’s U23 200m
