DAY 2:
The day’s proceedings were interrupted by a severe thunder and lightning storm, however the sun shone for the small band of Leevale athletes who competed. In the BU13 hurdles it was gold and silver for Wymin Sivakumar and Shane Ahern. Sean Condon ran a very brave race in the BU11 600m, taking the race out and eventually finishing in third place.
Reece Ademola is the Bu12 munster sprint champion. The BU11 wrapped up the medals with bronze in the 4x100m relay, qualifying them for the All-Ireand relays in July.
DAY 1:
A small group of young Leevale athletes battled with the heavy showers in Ennis this afternoon and scooped no small number of medals. Among the older athletes it was great to see two long jump medals from the boys with both Wymin Sivakumar and Reece Ademola having comfortable wins in the U13 and U12 events. Wymin was unlucky to finish just out of the medals in the 60m event where Robert Twomey took a deserved silver.
All four Leevale boys in the U12 600m made the final and, although finishing outside the medals, Tommy Connolly, Riain Brennan, Simon Collins and Eoghan Heaney did us proud. Marion Goggin did well to make the U13 60m hurdles final and was unlucky not to medal.
In the paired events again the long jump pit was a source of medals with U9 debutantes Sadhbh Condon and Luci Healy taking bronze and at U11 Caitlin Hennesy and Ella Scott winning gold. Caitlin’s leap of 3.91m also saw her take the individual gold. Also in the field Jessica Lyne and Kate Naughton took silver in the Turbo Javelin. On the track Ella and Caitlin took gold in the 60m with team mates Luci Mai Sleeman and Ciara O’Mahony taking the bronze. Here Ella took bronze on the individual times.
Finally in the relays our two teams acquitted themselves well. The U10 quartet of Roisin Healy, Ella Redmond, Nicole Clarke and Jessica Lyne taking second in their heat and just outside the medals, while the aforementioned U11 team stormed to gold in a rain storm.
Well done to everyone who competed on the day
