Munster Uneven Age Cross Country Results

Once again it was a very good day for Leevale’s young athletes at the Munster uneven age cross country championships in Newmarket-On-Fergus, Co Clare.

The day started with victory for Nicole Dinan in the girls under 9 race. Nicole was very impressive, leading the race from start to finish.

Simon Collins finished 9th in the boys U13 race to lead the Leevale team to silver.

Rhona Pierce ran a very strong race in the GU17, winning in convincing style.

Charlie O’Donovan had the run of the day to take second in the BU17 race. Running up an age, Charlie ran the race at the front as part of a 3-man breakaway group. The trio ran together swapping the lead on many occasions until the last lap when the group split. Charlie finished a comfortable second leading the Leevale team to gold.

Meave Ahern ran from the front to win the GU19 race from Louise Shanahan in second. Karen Twomey ran a strong race to finish 9th and secure the gold for the Leevale team.

David Fox followed up his County Junior win with a second place finish in the BU19 race. His clubmate Luke Horgan came home in fourth. Their runs helped the team secure silver.

Next up will be the All-Ireland even age championships and the Inter-County Senior Championships in Dundalk on November 23rd.
