There was a festival of 3K running at Cobh last night, an event hosted by Ballymore-Cobh AC in honour of Sonia O’Sullivan. There was a high standard all round as Mark Hanrahan strode home to take victory in the men’s section in 8:37. James Grufferty was also in the podium placings, 3rd in 9:00, while Rob Patterson was 8th in 9:32.
The women’s race was a very competitive affair, Laura Crowe just pipping it from Leevale’s Michelle Finn, 9:56 to 10:00. Sinead O’Connor and Andrea Bickerdike were 3rd and 4th. It was a good night all round for the Leevale ladies as Caroline Spillane and Ciara Mangan also finished in the top 10.
Earlier in the weekend, Eric Curran followed up his win in Killeagh with another one over 5K in Doneraile.
