The club’s athletes were spread far and wide this weekend. While the juveniles were in Nenagh on Saturday for the relays, the seniors were in action in Athlone on Friday for the IUAA Indoors, on Saturday for the indoor leagues, and in Tuam on Sunday for the cross country.
An event closer to home was the BHAA\Janssen 6K in Little Island. It resulted in a neck-and-neck finish between James McCarthy and Colm Sheehan, the East Cork man just edging out the Leevale runner. Helen Leonard finished 2nd in the ladies’ section and Finbarr O’Dwyer was 1st M40. Andrew Sheehan finished 4th overall.
Meanwhile, on Friday, Ben Thistlewood warmed up for his cross country on Sunday by winning the 3K at the IUAA Indoors. Luke Hickey took the walk title. Sinéad O’Connor and Jessica Neville took silver medals in the 3K and 400m respectively.
