Eagle AC hosted their annual 5 miler in Carrigaline yesterday morning. There was an unusual result in the women’s section, as a dead heat was declared between the fast-finishing Helen Leonard of Leevale and Laoise Ní Thuama, a former Leevale juvenile runner. Both athletes were credited with 31:20 and couldn’t be separated at the finish, which is an unusual turn of events for a road race. Nollaig O’Neill of Leevale was third, and Andrew Sheehan was also third in the senior men’s race in 27:24. Thomas O’Regan finished 2nd in the M55 category.
