The award for the Cork City Sports Athlete for the Month of May went to Louise Shanahan of Bruce College and Leevale AC. Louise received the award for her performances at the both Munster and Irish Schools Track & Field Championships. After a double in the senior girls’ 800m and 1500m at the Munster schools championships at Cork IT, she followed this up with a very impressive victory in her specialist event, the 800m, at Tullamore track on the 30th May. Her winning time here was 2:13.52.
Louise has since run the standard for the 800m for the European Junior Championships and hopes to get the selection on Monday when the team is announced.
