Leevale athlete Michelle Finn receives the Cork City Sports athlete of the month award for July.
Competing at the Letterkenny AC International Track & Field meet in July, Michelle ran the 3K steeplechase in a time of 9:43.03 which gave her well inside the qualification standard for the World Championships in Beijing (9:44) and 2016 Olympic Games in Rio (9:45)
Since competing in Beijing, Michelle has won the Evening Echo Women’s Mini-Marathon. Leading from the start, she opened up a commanding lead to win in a time of 21:26
Just last Sunday Michelle won the County Senior Cross Country Championship, leading the Leevale women’s team to victory.
