Reece Ademola was the star performer on Day 1 of the Munster U9-U13 Championships held at a sunny CIT today.
Reece produced a hat-trick of victories in the BU13 events, winning the high jump, long jump and 80m titles. Reece produced a championship best performance of 1.61m in the high jump, smashing the previous record of 1.52m held jointly by David Cussen and Sam Healy. He followed this up with victories in the long jump (4.90m) and the 80m.
Hugh Collins finished in 3rd place behind Reece in the 60m and in 4th place in the long jump where a PB of 4.52m also qualifies him for the All-Irelands in this event.
Ella Scott produced a storming run when finishing 2nd in the GU12 60m sprint. In the same age group Caitlin Hennessy finished 4th in the high jump with an impressive PB of 1.30m, before injury curtailed her participation in the championships. Her high jump PB qualifies her for the All-Irelands in that event. Emily Wall finished 2nd in the GU13 60m hurdles in her competitive debut in that event. Nicole Dinan ran superbly to finish a close 2nd in the GU10 500m.
