Leevale athletes travelled to Tullamore for day 1 of the Athletics Ireland Juvenile Championships. The meet was dominated by the sprint hurdles and the 800m events.
It was great to see so many Leevale athletes line up for the sprint hurdle events under the watchful eye of John Naughton. All the young athletes safely made it out of the heats and into the finals. Emily Wall finished just outside the medals in the GU13 event. Hugh Collins took gold in BU13. Wymin Sivakumar took bronze in the BU14 races from his club-mate Shane Aherne who finished just outside the medals in fourth.
Jack Murphy was the clear winner in the BU18 110m hurdles.
In the 800m events, Conor O’Driscoll won the BU17 800m in 1:58.3 and in the GU19 Louise Shanahan won her last juvenile 800m race in a comfortable 2:15.14. Matt Murnane finished just outside the medals in BU18 800m race.
Reece Ademola competed in the BU13 high jump and finished second with a clearance of 1.40m.
