At the Athletics Ireland Cross Championships in Abbotstown, Mark Hanrahan had a storming race in the senior men’s to take the bronze medal, leading Leevale men to third team prize; Mark Hanrahan 3rd, Ben Thistlewood 17th, Tim Twomey 32nd, Barry O’Donovan 52nd . Mark has surely secured selection for the European Cross Country Championships.
Leevale Women took silver in the senior women team, Michelle Finn lead the team by running the race from the front, ultimately finishing 5th, Sinead O’Connor 14th, Carol Finn 29th & Michelle Kenny 36th. Hopefully Michelle has done enough to secure selection for her 3rd European Cross Country Championships.
In the combined U18/Junior race Charlie O’Donovan finished second U18 and 6th in the junior race, hopefully securing selection for the European Junior Championships.
Tommie Connolly competing an age up in BU16 ran a strong race to take 6th place, he now looks forward to his own age U15 in two weeks time.
In the Junior Women’s race Louise Shanahan finished 7th leading the Cork team to 2nd place.
