The Leevale men’s team bounced back after an indifferent first two rounds to take bronze in the final of the AAI Indoor League in AIT yesterday. The team had no individual wins but scored consistently in all events, helped by good points from Wesley Oliveira (2nd LJ, 4th 60mH), Dave Tierney (2nd Shot), Ciaran Dee (2nd 400m) and Des Kelleher (3rd PV, 8th TJ).
In the women’s competition, the Leevale team finished 7th overall. The team had two individual wins: Andrea Bickerdike kept her good form going in taking all 9 points on offer in the 800m (2:19.22), while Una Samuels had a good win in the pole vault (2.90). Shona Lowe had a good 4th place finish in a competitive 60m and also finished 5th in the 200m to gain 9 points for the team. Molly Healy was another to win good points, taking 5 in the high jump with a clearance of 1.50.
Also in AIT, the AAI Indoor Games took place today, with Kaodi Ogbene, John Corr, Niamh Roe and James Grufferty all in action for Leevale.
