Carmel Parnell claimed her eighth consecutive British & Irish Masters title, and her tenth title overall, at the British & Irish Masters Cross Country Championships in Tollcross Park, Glasgow today. There was further jubilation for Leevale as Tim Twomey finished third overall in the M35/M40 race and was one of the four Cork men on the Irish M35 gold medal-winning team: Michael Harty, Tim Twomey, Michael Herlihy and Michael McMahon.
The Munster uneven age, junior & senior cross country championships were held at Limerick race course.
Nicole Dinan had a third place finish in the GU11, leading the Leevale team to silver. Kate Redmond had a super run to take second the GU13 race. Tommie Connolly has a super run, taking victory in the BU15 race and lead the team to silver.
In the BU19/Junior men’s race it was a clean sweep for Leevale with victory for Charlie O’Donovan, silver for Luke Horgan and bronze for David Fox. Leevale junior men won the team prize.
Louise Shanahan showed great form to take silver in the junior women’s race.
The Leevale BU9 team took silver.
Meanwhile, last weekend Leevale’s masters were also in action at the County Championships. Tim Twomey was the victor in the men’s race, leading the Leevale team of Donal Coffey, Alfie Davis and Brian Shiels to gold. In the men’s Novice B race, Dennis O’Regan won silver, just ahead of Tim Crowley and Andrew Hobbs.
