Claire McCarthy travelled to Germany with a Leevale contingent to compete in the Berlin Marathon. Claire ran a super race to finish in 9th place over all in 2:38:00 which is the standard set by Athletics Ireland for the 2017 World Championships. Claire’s splits are available here

Meanwhile back in Cork a strong contingent of Leevale athletes participated in the Women’s Mini Marathon.
Sinead O’Connor was second over the line in 22:14, followed by Andrea Bickerdike (4th 23:23), Michelle Kenny (5th 23:27), Carol Finn (5th 23:31), Louise Shanahan (9th 24:04), Rosaleen McKeown (11th 24:23), Carmel Parnell (14th 25:30) and juvenile athlete Katelyn Coffey came home in 18th place in a time of 27:20.
