Leevale Athletes in great form at Munster Combined Events

The Munster juvenile combined events championships were held in Nenagh over the weekend with a team of 21 Leevale athletes taking part. All Leevale athletes performed excellently with lots of personal bests and many high quality performances.

Harry Nevin produced a championship best performance (CBP) in winning the boys U14 pentathlon in a score of 2464, adding an incredible 300 points to the CBP. Harry had an excellent start to the day when smashing Daniel Ryan’s 60m hurdles record with a lightning fast 9.18s and followed that with impressive victories in the long jump (5.04m), shot (10.16m) and 800m. (2:29).

Kyle Ettoh was another athlete who was in excellent form in winning the boys U13 pentathlon. Kyle had individual wins in the 60m hurdles (10.14s), high jump (1.50m), long jump (4.59m) and 800m.

Reece Ademola won the boys U15 pentathlon with individual wins in the 60m hurdles (9.69s), long jump (5.18m), shot (10.28m) and high jump (1.66m). Hugh Collins produced a number of personal bests to finish 3rd in the same event.

John Cashman competed superbly to finish 2nd in the boys U12 pentathlon, particularly impressing in winning the 60m (8.95s) and the shot (6.93m).

Okwi Backari was 3rd in the girls U12 pentathlon where she had a super jump of 4.42m in the long jump, only marginally short of the Munster CBP.

Emily Wall, who finished an agonising 4 points outside the medals in the girls U15 pentathlon, ran an excellent season opener of 9.53s in winning the 60m hurdles event.
