Leevale Women Are The 2017 AAI Inter-Club Cross Country Champions

Leevale women’s team are the national inter-club cross country champions for the second time in the club’s history. Michelle Finn led the team home with a 3rd place finish, followed closely by Lizzie Lee in 4th place. Recently crowned British & Irish masters champion Claire McCarthy finished in 10th place, with Sinead O’Connor coming home 18th and Carol Finn 34th ensuring the team victory. Michelle & Lizzie also secured selection for the Irish team for the European Cross Country Championships, which will be held in Slovakia in Dec 12th.  

The women’s team have also qualified to compete at the European Clubs Championships in Mira, Portugal on Sun Feb 4th 2018. Additionally, the Leevale team were also the first four Cork County athletes home, thus winning the Inter County title as well. Senior Women’s results

In the senior men’s race, Mark Hanrahan ran a strong race to finish 6th overall in a highly competitive field. Mark led Cork to 3rd place inter county championship. Tim Twomey was the 6th member of the county team in 56th place. Senior Men’s results

Charlie O’Donovan took bronze in the junior men’s race, securing his selection for the junior European Cross Country Championships. Junior Men’s results

In the BU16 race Tommy Connolly ran with the leaders for the entire race and just missed out on bronze when he finished a very close 4th. Boys U16 results
