Leevale athletes produced outstanding performances at the national juvenile combined events championships held in Athlone.
Harry Nevin was the star juvenile performer once again when winning the boys U15 pentathlon with a championship best performance of 3349 points, bettering the mark held by Daniel Ryan. Harry produced outstanding performances in the hurdles, shot putt and 800m events. He started the day with a super-fast run of 8.78s in the 60m hurdles and produced a massive shot putt best of 13.31m. Harry finished the day with a stunning run of 2:06.35 in the 800m where he ran the last 200m in 30seconds. Club mate Colin Murphy competed excellently to finish 4th overall in the pentathlon which included a 2nd place finish in the 60m hurdles (9.45s).
Emily Wall finished 2nd in the girls U16 pentathlon with a score of 2637 points. Emily was a very impressive winner of the 60m hurdles in 9.46s.
Kyle Ettoh also took silver in the boys U14 pentathlon in a score of 2163, just 40 points off gold. This included individual victory in the high jump with a fine clearance of 1.57m.
Reece Ademola performed excellently in the boys U16 pentathlon where he had individual victories in the 60m hurdles (9.18s), long jump (5.86m), high jump (1.79m) and a big PB of 12.12m in the shot before having to retire with an injury in the 800m.
Kate Naughton continued to show great improvement, producing four PBs to finish 4th in the girls U14 pentathlon.
