Leevale women defended their national senior women’s cross country title at Abbotstown, on Sunday Nov 24th. Michelle Finn led the team home with a superb 5th place finish, followed by Niamh Moore, Michelle Kenny, Carol Finn and Franziska Skogsholm. This is the third consecutive victory for the team and ensures that Leevale women will represent Ireland at the European Champion Clubs Cup Cross Country in Albufrria, Portugal on Feb 2nd.
It was also a great day for Leevale’s juvenile athletes with individual places along with club, inter-county and provincial places & medals all up for grabs. Elle Dinan started the day of in the right footing with a gutsy 9th place to earn herself a top 12 podium finish….
Older sister Nicole Dinan won the girls U14 race leading the Leevale team to victory, with Claire Crowley, Hannah Arrigan making the top 12, and Simone Looney the 4th scorer. This is the 3rd successive victory for Nicole who also lead the Cork team to inter county victory.
The girls U15 ran an age group up today & came in a super 2nd. This bodes well for their U15 all Ireland December 15th.
The boys U16, U18 boys and girls had solid performances & made their club very proud.
