At the Cork City Sports Athlete Of the Month Award Ceremony held in The River Lee Hotel, Michelle Finn of Leevale AC received the award for September. At the Berlin ISTAF meeting Michelle set a new Irish 2000m steeplechase record of 6 min 16.67 secs. A week earlier she produced a new championship best time when winning the Irish senior title at Morton Stadium. Subsequent to her Irish record, Michelle ran a solid race at the World track and field championships in Doha, and for good measure Michelle recently won the Cork county cross country championship for the fifth consecutive time.
