Munster Juvenile Indoor Championships, Day 2 & 3 Report

Leevale athletes were in outstanding form on Day 2 and Day 3 of the Munster Juvenile Indoor Championships held in Nenagh over the weekend.  A total of 53 Leevale athletes competed, coming away with 43 placings which included 24 Munster titles, 6 championship best performances (CBPs) and many personal bests.

Ryan Onoh dominated the boys u12 age group, setting CBPs in both the Long Jump (4.58m) and High Jump (1.38m).  Ryan also won the 60m sprint in 8.46s.

Bobby O Callaghan took bronze in the BU13 60m.

Emily Wall was another triple champion, with a clean sweep of the girls u17 sprints and hurdles titles.  Emily was a clear winner of the 60m in 8.02s, 200m in 26.89s and 60m Hurdles in 9.13s where she seamlessly negotiated the challenging senior hurdles spacings for the first time.

John Cashman had an impressive double, winning the boys u14 60m clearly in 7.74s before breaking Harry Nevins 60m hurdles CBP in a very fast 8.90s.

Marc Jones won both the boys u19 200m (23.90s) and 400m (53.61s) titles while also taking bronze in the 60m sprint (7.27s) where clubmate Ryan O’Leary took silver in 7.09s.

Wymin Sivakumar’s Triple Jump of 13.45m was a new CBP in the boys u18 age, all the more impressive as it overlapped with the 200m event where he took silver in a very lively 23.06s.

Reece Ademola made a welcome return to Long Jumping with a fantastic 1st round leap of 6.57m, which was his first time exceeding the 6-metre barrier, matching Sam Healy’s CBP in the process.

Colin Murphy broke new ground, taking silver in the boys u16 60m sprint in a fast 7.33s which was well inside the previous CBP.  Colin won the 60m Hurdles title in a comfortable 8.85s where he was followed by Conor Callinan in 2nd place (9.04s).

Jack McGrath took gold in the u18 60m hurdles event in 8.92s and later took 200m bronze (23.90s).  Natalia Golka showed great speed to take gold in the girls u13 60m hurdles (10.28s) and bronze in the 60m (8.48s).  Sean Carmody won the boys u15 60m hurdles in 9.40s while James Ezeonu won the u17 event in 9.05s.
