Olympic Selection For Louise Shanahan

Louise Shanahan has been selected to represent Ireland in the 800m at the Tokyo Olympics. Her selection was based on ranking achieved due a string of fine performances topped with victory at the Senior Championships over the weekend.  Leevale will once again have three athletes at an Olympics with Michelle Finn in the 3K Steeple Chase, Alex Wright in the 50K Walk and now Louise in the 800m.

This is a brilliant achievement for Louise and her father/coach Ray. She now joins the Leevale Olympian hall of fame along with Donie Walsh, Marcus O’Sullivan, Mark Carroll, Donal McCarthy, Derval O’Rourke, Ciaran O’Lionard, Michelle Finn, Lizzie Lee and Alex Wright. (we need a bigger wall)

Elsewhere on the international selections, Charlie O’Donovan has been selected to represent Ireland in the 1500m at the European U23 Championships due to take place in Tallinn, Estonia July 8th – 11th 2021.
