It was a day to remember for those who attended SPAR European Cross Country Championships at the Sport Ireland Campus, in Dublin with Ireland claiming 3 medals on a historic occasion for Irish athletics.
A large contingent of Leevale members travelled to support our two competing athletes. In the U20 women, Jane Buckley finished the race in 30th place just behind her compatriots Aoife McGreevy (23rd) and Emma McEvoy (24th), bringing the Irish team home in 8th place.
Olympian Michelle Finn competed in the senior women race. Michelle was unable to recapture the form which brought her the senior title a few weeks previously, coming home in 46th place. The Irish team finished 4th overall.
