Earlier today Louise Shanahan competed at the Irish Milers Club Meet in Belfast, where set a new Irish 800m record of 1:59.42, when she broke the 2 minute barrier for for the first time. Louise had a titanic battle with Ciara Mageean (previous 800m record holder), only to pull clear on the home straight to take victory. This amazing achievement is also a qualifying standard for the World Athletics Championships.
