At an award ceremony in the River Lee Hotel, Lucy May Sleeman was presented the Cork City Sports Athlete of the Month award for July. Lucy is one of the up and coming sprint stars in Ireland and has been unbeaten in sprints at juvenile and junior level is 2022. In July she recorded a notable and comprehensive sprint double in the 100 & 200m races in at the national junior championship in Tullamore winning the 100m in a then personal best time of 11.63. She subsequently represented Ireland in Columbia at the World Junior Championships where she improved on this time again.
