Michelle Finn has done it again. For the 3rd time in her career she is a bronze team medal winner at the Senior Women’s European Cross Cross Country Championships in La Mandria Park in Italy on Sunday (Dec 11th).
It was a gritty senior women’s team using all of their championship racing experience to win another brilliant bronze thanks to a double act from twins Eilish and Roisin Flanagan who crossed side-by-side in 11th and 12th place. Mary Mulhare (27th) was closely supported by Ann Marie McGlynn (31st), Aoibhe Richardson (46th), and Michelle Finn (55th). The result continues an outstandingly consistent run from the senior women’s team who have medalled for the 5th time in 11 years at these championships and Michelle has been on three of these winning teams.
This makes five European team medals for Leevale women in recent years, Michelle with 3 bronze and Lizzie Lee with a gold and bronze.
Also at the SPAR European Cross Country Championships Jane Buckley returned from the states to compete in the women’s U20 race. Jane has been putting down huge markers all season the US and on Sunday put in a brilliant individual performance to secure a 5th place finish. Jane was right in contention for a medal until the final lap and has announced her presence on the international scene.
