The Munster Indoor Championships for U14 – U16 were held in Nenagh Olympic Stadium over the first two weekends in February. There were superb results across the board from Leevale athletes who won 6 Golds, 8 Silvers and 6 Bronze medals over two weekends of fierce competition.
The girls u16 had Natalia Golka and Sophie Mulcahy making their debut in the 200m finishing 2nd and 3rd place. Continuing on from that Elena O’Sullivan and Sophie finished 1st and 2nd in the 60m sprint; then Natalia and Elena 1st and 3rd in the 60m hurdles with Syrah Kenna making her first Munster final. The girls u15 were off to a great start with Caoimhe Daly coming 2nd in the Long Jump with a massive PB of 5.09m. Faye Scriven stormed to the finish coming 1st in the 60m with Caoimhe Daly in 4th. Olive Burger finished 4th in the High Jump with a new PB of 1.45m.
The girls u14 started with Kate O’Donovan finishing 3rd in the 800m, Noelle Mulcahy running a PB of 8.96s in the 60m and Kate O’Donovan 2nd and Grace Wixted 3rd in the High Jump.
Moving onto the boys u14 Luke Mullins finished in 3rd place on the 60m in his first Munster final. Luke Merrigan took silver in the 800m with Ronan Keenan finishing 5th. The boys u15 saw Ryan Onoh come home with gold in the long jump and the high jump; Anthony Goggin stormed through to take 3rd in the 60m. The 60m hurdles was won by Michael Scott, Anthony Goggin finished in 2nd with Oscar Naughton coming in 3rd, Oscar also finished 2nd in the Shot Putt.
This was a great start to the season, we are now looking forward to the relays. Well done to everyone.
