Munster Indoor Relay Championships U12 to U19

Leevale’s u12s to u19s had another successful day at the Munster Indoor Relay Championships, this time coming together across all our training groups and uniting to take on the best relay teams in Munster.

First though in the inaugural u17 Indoor 400m one of our newest members Zoe Conway took silver followed closely by Fatima Amusa in fourth, Ella Jenks took silver in the u18s and Oisin Whyte took Bronze in the u19 Boys, fighting all the way to the line with Yasin Salim Said.

Our u12 girls of Joelle O’Leary, Edith Hanna, Sydney Forde and Anna Creagh came 3rd while our u13 boys of Fionn Naughton, Rahman Amusa, Ethan Bambury and Ruaidhri O’Conaill agonisingly missed out on a place in Nationals coming fourth by 0.09 seconds.

The u14 girls also came fourth in their final with Aoibheann Lynch, Noelle Mulcahy, Grace Wixted and Kate O’Donovan, a fiercely competitive race which generated a championship best performance; the u14 boys of Luke Mullins, Rahman Amusa, Calum Harrington and Luke Merrigan then turned in a dominating performance to take gold.

The u15 girls of Caoimhe Daly, Ava Hanley, Olive Burger and Faye Scriven took silver and the boys team of Josh O’Mahony, Anthony Goggin, Tyreek Bannon and Ryan Onoh ran superbly to take gold and book their place in Athlone.

For the u16 girls today was about bringing their recent individual performances together as a team – that they did with Elena O’Sullivan, Jamie Rooney, Natalia Golka and Sophie Mulcahy taking gold.

Our athletes weren’t finished there….

Our u17 girls of Okwu Backari, Orla O’Sullivan, Lucie Healy and Fatima Amusa took gold a clear 6.5 secs ahead of 2nd, with our u18 girls of Okwu Backari, Ella Jenks, Ayisha Clinton and Gabriella Bowen booking their trip to Athlone in 2nd. Emulating the great performances from the girls, the u18 boys of Sean Carmody, Amro Amir, Matthew Wilkins and Christopher Furlong took gold.

To cap off an amazing day our u19 boys and girls ran polished races. The boys of Yasin Salim Said, Colin Murphy, Brendan O’Donohgue and Conor Callinan took gold while our girls of Ella Jenks, Ciara O’Mahony, Ella Scott and Lucy-May Sleeman put in a Championship Best Performance to book their place in Nationals as Munster Champions.

It was great today to see all our athletes get behind each other, to help each other and to celebrate together and to show what it means to be a part of Leevale.
