What a week Team Ireland and our Leevale crew had in France. With existing friendships stronger than ever and new ones made both within Team Ireland and with the many athletes from the other 14 participating countries, our crew return home with multiple successes:
Fatima Amusa: gold in the 100m, gold in the 200m and gold in the 4x100m relay.
Okwu Backari: gold in the 100m hurdles, bronze in the long jump and gold in the 4x100m relay
Sophie Mulcahy: bronze in the 100m, bronze in the 200m and gold in the 4x100m relay
Claire Crowley: gold in the 800m and gold in the 1500m
Anthony Goggin: silver in the 100m.
A big thank you to Leevale’s Emer Mulcahy who travelled as the sprint and relay coach for the week and looked after all our athletes, ensuring that not only did they perform superbly away from home but had a huge amount of fun while they were there.
The 2023 FISEC Games will live long in the memories of those lucky enough to be selected as part of the 21 athlete strong Team Ireland.
