Anika Thompson (Leevale AC) posted a 32:54.97 at the Stanford Invitational meet in California yesterday to break the Irish U23 10000m record. Racing for Oregon, Thompson came home in 12th place to break Laura Mooney’s (Tullamore Harriers) record which had been clocked just hours earlier. Mooney had posted a 23 seconds PB to run what was a new U23 new national record at the time of 33:00.24
