The death has been announced of one of Leevale greatest athletes, Cathy Dunne Fitzpatrick.
Along with John Twomey and Kathy McShane, Cathy was part of a generation who shaped Irelands Paralympic movement and paved the way for future generations.
Cathy represented Ireland at the 1980, 1984, 1988 and 1992 Games across a range of field events including discus, shot, javelin and pentathlon. Her greatest success came in Seoul in 1988 where she won silver medal in the discus and bronze medal in the pentathlon.
