A small band of Leevale Senior and Masters athletes were in action at the County T&F Championships, held at CIT today, and those who competed were well to the fore in their events. Sinéad O’Connor had a strong victory in the senior 800m, while there were senior 2nd placings for Barry Donovan in the 1500m and Jessica Vonhatten in the 3000m. There were also good senior wins for John Corr in the 100m and David Killeen in the Pole Vault. John Corr and Dan Lawson filled silver and bronze medal positions in the senior 200m. Joe Nagle competed in the shot, and won both the senior event and his own Masters age category. In the same event, Brian Hayes won the O35 category. Both also competed in, and won their categories in Javelin, Discus, and 35lb WFD. Back on the track, Graham O’Riordan ran strongly in the senior 800m to finish just outside the medals in 5th. There were also category wins for Susan Lynch and juvenile coach, Eilís Ní Fhaoláin, in the 100m and 200m events.
