The under 14-19 Munster T&F Championships were held in Castleisland over the weekend. Leevale athletes did their club proud with a multitude of fine performances across all disciplines including sprints, middle distance, throws and jumps. A few exceptional performances should be mentioned including Jack Murphy’s hatrick, Louise Shanahan’s 800m, Philip Crowley’s 3000m, Philip Brownlow’s high jump and Luke Ring’s sprint. Jack Murphy did the treble by winning the boys U14 High Jump, Long Jump, & 75m Hurdles, he was a member of the 4x100m relay team. Louise Shanahan ran a great 800m race to win in empathic style from a very strong field. Philip Crowley won a superb 3000m by timing his final kick perfectly and holding off the competition who challenged vigorously all the way to the line. Philip Brownlow, who was competing at club level for the first time, jumped a massive 1.75 m to finish 3rd against very highly rated competition in the under 16 high jump. In the boys under 14 sprint, Luke Ring exploded out of the blocks and wasn’t going to be caught thereafter.
