Leevale had a great day at the first leg of the AAI National League on Sunday. A slow start has hampered the club’s chances over the past number of years, but that was consigned to history as Leevale got off to a flying start in this year’s series. Competing in the Tullamore pool, there were some great performances, with the Leevale women particularly dominant in the track events. In the combined Round 1 standings from Santry and Tullamore, the Leevale women have a clear lead with 130 points, while the men lie in 3rd, just two points off 2nd and 8 points off the lead.
If this performance can be replicated in Round 2 on 14 July, Leevale will go into the final in a very strong position.
