The National Senior T&F Championships were held at Santry last weekend, and there were medals aplenty for the Leevale athletes that travelled, with many other impressing also at the highest level of competition in the country.
Two of the medals were won by Rio-bound Alex Wright and Michelle Finn, where there were battling bronze medal performances from Lauren Whelan and Ryan Creech. Luke Horgan was the impressive winner of the Junior Men’s 3000m, where there was another national title for Leevale as Ryan, Eric Curran and Tim Twomey took gold in the 10K team event.

- Alex Wright – Gold, 10K Walk
- Ryan Creech – Bronze, 10000m
- Leevale men’s 10000m team – Gold (Ryan Creech, Eric Curran & Tim Twomey)
- Lauren Whelan – Bronze, 5K Walk.
- Luke Horgan – Gold, 3000m Junior Men
- Michelle Finn – Silver, 5000m
It is always nice to see Cork athletes performing well at National level. Congratulations to the athletes and of course their coaches. Wonderful run from Luke in 3km and no doubt a proud uncle/Coach.
